Department overview (50 words)

Department of Botany was established in 2001. The department educates the students in order to provide them with new knowledge and skills in different disciplines of plant sciences. The department aims are to develop skilled botanists for nature conservation and all other applications related to Botany and to produce graduate with requisite botanical knowledge and techniques necessary for various fields like Taxonomy, Anatomy, Mycology, Genetics, Plant Ecology, Biotechnology, etc.

Department’s achievements:

  1. Established Herbal garden in 2012 which consists of medicinally important plants of this region.
  2. Established Vandana Shiva Seed Bank in AY 2016-2017.
  3. Successfully conducted two days National Conference on “Recent Trends in Plant Sciences”on 29-30 Dec. 2013.
  4. One of the faculty member, Dr. Sunil Modak received—

  • Department organizes study tours and field visits every year for B.Sc. FY, SY & TY students.
  • Department organizes Student Seminar for B.Sc. FY, SY & TY students every year.
  • Students of B.Sc. TY have completed 05 Research Projects till date and 05 Research Projects are ongoing.
